Greek Imaging Market in Public Hospitals
The Greek Public Hospital’s medical imaging device and consumables market in 2018, is estimated at 112,4 million Euro (excl. VAT 24%). This value arising from three main sources:
- €28,4 million of signed contracts from January 2018,
- €43,4 million is the budget for pending tenders (tenders under technical or economic evaluation) and
- €40.5 million is the budget for equipment under planning, drafting technical specs, waiting for approval from the Ministry of Health or Health Authorities to publish the tenders.
The market contracted in previous years, and is expected to recover until 2019. The Institute of Supply Chain and Hospital Technology predicts the Greek market for medical imaging systems and consumables will hit more than 110 million euro by the end of 2018. This is driven mainly, by the huge financial support of the NHS hospitals and the private investment in high-end imaging systems, despite the low reimbursement prices for diagnostic tests and the implementation of claw-back mechanism and rebate on private healthcare providers by National Health Services Organization.
